Riëtte Engels-Van Zyl focuses on corporate law, with emphasis on private equity, mergers and acquisitions, unbundlings, due diligence, JSE listings and BEE transactions.

She also advises multinationals on tax structuring, particularly in the context of mergers and acquisitions, and assists corporates in dispute resolution involving complex tax issues with the revenue authority.

​

During the past 10 years, Riёtte has been a tax law lecturer for final year law students at the University of Johannesburg. 

​

Since 2010, Riёtte has co-authored the Juta’s Income Tax Act Commentary.
